Pastel baby quilt

Initially made for a friend’s baby, but I liked it too much to give away.

  1. Hi Tanya
Just stumbled across your very pretty quilt – what lovely colours (bright and cheerful like the weather at the moment in the UK which is rare!).

    • So sorry to not reply for 18 months (never saw the comment)! It was a thick polyester. I don’t use polyester batting anymore, and I rarely hand quilt – if I were to make this again I’d use a thick bamboo or cotton. It wouldn’t have the same effect, but I prefer natural fibres now. 🙂

    • Hi Cynthia. Thank you. I just used alternate scrap pieces for the border. I handquilted the whole quilt (this was before I dared machine-quilt) and didn’t bother to quilt right to the edge, so it was left quite loose. I’d do it differently now, though, if I had to do it again. Hope that answers your question.

  2. Simply stunning!
It gives me food for thought on a baby quilt I am trying to figure out how to finish off!
    Thank-you for sharing!

  3. I sincerely hope you don’t mind (I was always told imitation is the greatest form of flattery):
I copied the top-stitching you used for my quilt squares, on the border of my baby quilt!
It turned out very well and I am so pleased! The designs work and I have received many compliments on it! It was easy to complete after getting inspiration from YOU!
Thank-you for sharing such a lovely piece of artwork–you are awesome!

  4. Just love your quilt would you allow me to use your pattern .Would like to make one for my daughters foster child ,something she can have as a keepsake .

  5. Beautiful quilt. I love your colour choices. I just saw it for the first time today and it’s given me inspiration for a future I-spy quilt that I will plan for my great-niece. Also like your Chinese quotes. I will try to keep following you.

  6. Hi Tanya,
I would like to make a smaller version of your beautiful baby quilt for my daughter’s second baby due October – would you mind? I love the quilting.
