Panmen Gate Scenic Area

After months of doing not a whole lot on the weekends here in Suzhou we decided to be tourists for a morning and went to 2500 year old Panmen Gate, somewhere we had planned to go to for about 18 months!!

Despite it being crazy cold (isn’t it supposed to be spring?), we saw the first hints of spring – cherry blossoms.

We fed fish, climbed the old city wall and really just tried to stay warm. This wasn’t like other Chinese gardens (well, it wasn’t really a Chinese garden at all) – there was so much open space. And the great thing about going to these places in winter – almost no people at all!
