It’s worth having travel insurance

Because when an airline decides to cancel your flight, and makes you stay at the nicest hotel in the country (at their expense*), and you’re stuck in the pool all afternoon, perched on a stool at the swim-up-bar, drinking whatever you want and charging it to your room, then having a sumptuous meal in their fancy restaurant, followed the next morning by a lavish buffet breakfast, your travel insurers will agree that you’ve been extremely hard done by and they will refund all your expenses – even if you file the claim over a year after you came home.

Le Lagon Resort – where I had to spend a night for free:

*The airline paid for accommodation and transfers - I had to pay for food and (LOTS of) drink.
